Worth it for the sample essays aloneI took the GRE 10 years ago to get into an MA program, when I needed to retake them to get into a doctoral program, I panicked! A new writing section, ah! However, this book put my anxieties at ease. It is short and to the point. I did not really need it to brush up on punctuation or grammar - but all that information is there. What I really found most helpful were all the examples of sample essays. To receive a high score on the GRE writing section, you need to structure your essays a certain way - this book shows you how to do that. Writing section topics for your specific test will be picked from a pool of topics - this book covers all the major ones with its sample essays.
Very Good Logical WritingFor writing the logical and issue section, it is incomparable. I read it very fast and looked at the examples again and again. That's why it is excellent because it's fast and shows exactly how. You just have to read it and then think about the examples. It helped me so much. ETS doesn't want a dissertation, just to see our demonstration of ability and this book taught me how while keeping it very simple and compact.
Nice Patterns and Logical ApproachesI loved it! This was short. Very accurate. Doesnt waste a minute of my valuable time in pedantic hogwash. Actually Im busy and took the advice of other readers who said they were busy and needed a crash course in the logical section for writing. THis works. It just took a quick read and then I was able to refer to it as a reminder.
I got an excellent score on the writing parts.
HIGHLY RecommendedMy friend took the GRE and got this a while back. He said (and it's why I listened), if I needed to learn specific writing approaches and would read for patterns and logic, it'd be super clear. And it was.

Very Nice for the PriceVery Nice for the Price! I think someone had a vendetta against the author to write a bad report cuz it worked very well for the writing section. In fact that's all it teaches, and it's very specific. If a man can't get any use from the book, he's simply too lazy to work at it. It's all about writing, which is a chore. That's what I needed help with.There's no spoonfeeding in the book and that's what lazy students and LAZY teachers want. I dont want to be spoonfed because Im a good student and willing to put in time. Im glad the negative writer wasnt my teacher. The GRE is hard work, and there is no miracle or no replacement for hard work. I wanted success and this helped me get my score.
