a very big disappointmentFirst of all I must say that I am a huge fan of Jane Green and have ordered this book in great excitement, and when I finally got it yesterday, I saw that it was the exact same book I read months ago which was titled "Girl Friday" by Jane Green. Why would you change the name of the book? And why would you not make it known to the customers? I'm really really very disappointed because I was so looking forward to start a new book in the weekend at the beach and now I have spent 15 bucks for the same book, twice...
good, but odd twiststhis book was entertaining enough and kept my attention, but some of the twists were a bit much. it's about a connecticut divorced woman who has created her own life in her town with her kids and amicable ex-husband. it's interesting to read about her life and friends and job. it turns out her new neighbor is a good friend of a famous write who lives in town and gets her a job as his girl friday. she's got a great relationship with her ex and one of her best friends runs a yoga studio, helping to keep her centered and relaxed. everything is great until she starts dating a new guy, her long-lost sister blows into town and her friend begins dating her boss....gets weird from there!
I miss Jane Green's BritishnessI for one am very sorry that Jane Green has gone from being a snappy British writer to a formulatic American writer. There are too many books like this out there, she was a fresh and fun voice, now is no different than many others in my local library selection. Sorry, Jane, liked your English books so much better !!!
Bored to tearsThis was my first Jane Green novel - likely my last. There is only one word to describe this novel: boring. How do books like this even get published??
Dune RoadGreat book or I really liked it. What others will think of it is up to them.
Product DescriptionThe instant New York Times bestseller from one of the most beloved voices in women's fiction
An ever-growing legion of fans greets the publication of each new tale from the inimitable Jane Green. Her latest gem, Dune Road, is set in tony Highfield, Connecticut, where recent divorcee Kit Hargrove has joyfully exchanged the requisite diamond studs and Persian rugs of a Wall Street Widow for a clapboard Cape with sea-green shutters and sprawling impatiens. Her kids are content, her ex cooperative, and each morning she wakes up to her dream job: assisting the blockbuster novelist Robert McClore. Then an unexpected series of events forces Kit to realize that her blissfully constructed idyll and blossoming new romance aren't as perfect as she thought. A warm, witty, and gloriously observed meditation on the challenges of starting over, Dune Road is Jane Green at her absolute best. Read more...
